|Project:||Waterproofing of DrinkingWater Reservoir, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada|
|Designer:||Metro Vancouver, Burnaby, BC|
|Contractor:||Metro Testing Laboratories Inc.|
|Products:||Gem-Plast TC, Cem-Kote Flex ST|
|Objective:||Repair deep deterioration of the existing concrete surface and waterproof the water reservoir to provide long-term use. The tank was built in 1972, and Figures #1 and #2 show the original construction. The concrete surface has deteriorated to a depth 9-9 mm (1/4”-3/8”), as shown in Figure #3.
The surface was cleaned using high pressure water 34.5 MPa (5,000 psi) and Gem-Plast TC was used to repair delaminations and level the surface. Repaired surface was again pressure washed, and two coats of Cem-Kote Flex ST were spray applied and brush finished. The interior of the reservoir after repairs is shown in Figures #4, #5 and #6.
