DESCRIPTION

Concrete-Patching-Mortar ovFIBRE-PATCH OV is a one-component, add water only, hydraulic cement based, polymer-modified and silica-fume enhanced, fibre-reinforced mortar. The polymer-modification allows air curing after 24 hours of wet cure and adds toughness to the material, when applied in thin sections. The pozzolan provides a high resistance to chloride and water penetration, high strength, bond and chemical resistance. The fibre reinforcement allows a crack-free application of thin to thick sections. The proprietary additives allow an easy overhead application to 4″ (100 mm).

USES

FIBRE-PATCH OV is a fast set material, formulated to allow thin to thick overhead and vertical surfaces applications. It is suitable for balconies, ceilings, water reservoirs, tunnels, man holes, foundations, walls, abutments and other concrete structures.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation …  Remove all loose and oil or grease contaminated concrete first.  Sand blast, shotblast or high pressure water blast (min. 5,000 psi) to remove form release agents, laitance, dirt and other bond inhibiting materials to achieve sound concrete with exposed fractured aggregate and a surface profile of minimum CSP #3 (ICRI). Vertical edges of ¼” (6 mm) or more must be created around the perimeter of the patch by saw cutting and chipping.

Reinforcing Steel Remove concrete behind the reinforcing steel to 1″ (25 mm) depth. Remove loose rust from the surface of the reinforcing steel and apply two coats of FIBRE-PATCH OV.

Mixing … Mix the contents of the bag with 1 gal. (3.8 L) of water, using a paddle or helix mortar mixer, or heavy duty drill (400 – 600 RPM) with a mixing paddle. Gradually add the dry material into water and mix until a smooth and lump-free mix is obtained. Do not over mix. Adjust the water for trowelable consistency.

Application Method …  Thoroughly saturate with water to attain a saturated surface dry substrate. Trowel apply a thin layer of FIBRE- PATCH OV. When applying over very rough surfaces, fill in the voids first. Do not build up until the first layer develops a sufficient set and bond to support the weight of the additional layer, usually 10 – 30 minutes. Float to obtain an even sur face. Close with the steel trowel if necessary. Do not over work the material. Do not feather edge.

Curing … Wet cure for 24 hours and then air dry cure. Protect against rapid surface evaporation under hot, sunny and windy conditions by using a surface evaporation retarder or wetting the surface prior to the final set, which occurs in 15 – 20 minutes depending upon temperature. Curing compounds may be used.

Cleanup … All tools must be cleaned with water immediately after use.  Cured material can only be removed mechanically.

LIMITATIONS/PRECAUTIONS

Do not apply FIBRE-PATCH OV when the temperature is expected to go below 40° F (4° C) within 24 hours or when rain is imminent. Use Hot Weather concreting precautions when applying in temperatures exceeding 77° F (25° C) or under sunny and windy conditions. Minimum applied thick ness is ¼” (6 mm).
